I’ve had the great pleasure of listening to the remixed and re-recorded tracks and can honestly say that the world is in for a treat with the new mixes of the already fantastic F-105 III songs!

F-105 ANNOUNCE NEW EP F-105 III: BABY MAKES THREE MIX – MAY 4 RELEASE

The new definitive F-105 III: Baby Makes Three Mix is produced by original self-titled F -105 debut LP coproducer and drummer, Alex Mine. Din, who goes by F-105 as both a solo and band project, wanted the EP to be more of band sound than the previous F-105 III EP. They were both really excited about this idea, and you can hear it in the sound, and how it pops with energy and colour. F-105 toured California in Spring 2022 to support the original release of the original F-105 III, along with some Northern Ontario and Victoria BC dates, and the funky vibes of Venice Beach seems to have seeped into the full-on funk of track 1, “Toys (Peace Frogs of Venice Mix)”. Instrumentation is by Din, Alex Mine and Marc Meriläinen (along with his son Cole), which makes the EP the same lineup as the debut F-105 LP – and you can hear the joy of collaboration throughout.

Track 2, the Pop Punk “Songs for Our Kids (End of The World Mix”), was written as a clear expression of Din's feeling that if he was in high school right now, he would want to hear more songs that spoke to the chaotic state of the world, as well as issues of identity and vocation. Din recently publicly came out as being "not straight" and feels this generation is not only inspiring in terms of breaking free of gender and identity limitations, but also a general hope that young people will a better world, listening to their inner truths. At age 19, Din chose to be a musician and artist “for life”, against the advice of his elders. In a world under the ubiquitous threat of climate disaster and war, there is no time to waste not being who you really are.

Finally, the EP ends on a comforting note, with the gentle waltz of track 3, “(You Say You’re) Not Special.” Din wrote this as a direct response to one of his dearest friends who felt “Not special” because she “wasn’t famous”. This broke his heart, and he realized he wanted to write a song for all young people who quantify their worth with likes and followers, while comparing themselves to celebrities.

The EP cover is original art by Din, combining a digitally altered sketch of his niece listening to music on audiophile headphones. Din will be touring the SW US again this summer at The Barrel, Sherman Oaks California on July 30th as the Feature Act in support of the release, with more dates to follow.

F-105 III: Baby Makes Three Mix will be released via Meriläinen Music Inc. Available May 4 on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube
